Smile is worth a thousand words.

Today we had a good day but worked late.  I got to see my friend Leonard this morning.  It was so good to see him.  I haven’t been in touch with him since the earthquake.  His smile is amazing.

We got a new group of medical staff in today.  So it is a transition for new people to start and to try to grasp what they are seeing. Dr. Jen got a great email today from someone at the USNS Comfort ship, they told her that they are very impressed with the care we are giving.  They see patients from all over the city and they feel that our patients are cared for with very high quality. It gave all of us a much needed boost.  We try hard but it was nice to hear from others that they think we are doing a good job.  I have had the privilage of working with so many amazing people.

I found out today that there will be no commercial flights into or out of Haiti now till the 18th of Feb. So that means that I am working on another plan to leave next week. I have options,I am just not sure what day I will be able to leave.  It is going to be tough to leave but I am really looking forward to coming home.  Maybe I have said this before, but I feel guilty because I have the option to leave.  There is so much to do each day that rest is not really ever going to be an option here for a long time.

I need to get to bed, morning comes so quick. I know one thing for sure, not ONE rooster died in the earthquake. They are all hanging out outside my window.

PS: Most of you know that I am not tech savy, so I am sorry that my pictures post so big.  I am doing all I can to just get them posted.

Joanna – Thank you so for keeping us posted. We can’t tell you how good it is to see your pictures and know you are safe. Joanna, it is a positive thing for you to come home and rest your body and your mind. (You could watch the Lions game while you relax.) What gifts of love and comfort you are sharing with the people there! We hold you close in our hearts and pray for you every day. Love, Mary & Chuck

Sorry I can’t be there with you right now like we planned, but you’ll be home soon and we’ll be having chilltime. I’m not sure if we’ll watch the Lions game (how funny is it that Mary Lura suggested that?), but for sure we can eat some ice cream and I promise there will be no mosquitoes or roosters interrupting sleep.
